NEW color drop: Design in Box launches subtle maximalism
Feb. 27, 2024
After years of minimalist, monotonous interiors, we are all yearning for warmth and color. The trend of earth tones - which already tentatively emerged last year - continues to grow. Thus, in these uncertain times, the growing popularity of dark brown reflects our longing for nature and nostalgia. The new collection of Design in Box therefore immerses us in a cozy and warm retro interior. No fluorescent eyectachers or pop prints as a one-time endorphin shot but a timeless injection of color that you will enjoy endlessly. Herewith Design in Box launches the 'dopamine decor 2.0': ideal if you are not into maximalism but long for a subtle touch of color to cheer up your interior (and yourself).

As a family business, Design in Box pays tribute to the iconic '60s designs of grandfather Gijs van der Sluis. With the launch of their modular wall system the Dutch interior design brand now presents a completely new design. This unique wall rack can be customized and expanded to suit your home and needs and is available in black, sand and cobalt blue.
"We are extremely proud to add this brand new product category to our range," says Design in Box founder Pim van der Sluis. "That we are releasing this wall system not only in timeless standard shades but also in cobalt blue is no coincidence. After all, this deep blue color refers to the logo of the furniture company my grandfather Gijs van der Sluis started and literally highlights the strength of our family business."
Many warm, nostalgic colors such as deep red have already passed by on the catwalk. And this year we will also see numerous interiors dressed in shades of brown with earthy, red undertones such as bordeaux, rust, terracotta and soft mauve. Design in Box also translates its love for this red color palette into some brand new items.

Blue hues, along with the dusty, organic palette predicted, reach their peak in 2024. Blue brings the perfect balance as a contrast to the earthy color palette. Moreover, with the reintroduction of the iconic no.57 armchair by Gijs van der Sluis - dressed in a tough fabric with denim vibes - Design in Box pays an original ode to grandpa.
No.57 armchair in blue 'Keymer Chill 35' fabric (100% recycled polyester) - PRICE: from 299€.
With "Peach Fuzz" as the new Pantone color of 2024, you might choose this velvety peach shade against the wall this year. Paired with ochre yellow designer furniture like this Bench no.1012, you'll create a timeless yet surprising color palette.

In addition to the no.57 armchair, Design in Box also brings a bright orange reissue of the dining no.50. The minimalist design creates a unique result through the combination of the rectangular, white steel frame and the subtle round shapes of the back and seat. This eye-catcher - enveloped in a bright, orange-colored bouclé fabric - excels not only because of its excellent seating comfort but also because of its stackable skills.
