Interior style:
My interior style I describe as a mix of Scandinavian & vintage. A quiet base but definitely with color.
Property:
The five of us live in a spacious 1970s house with a spacious green garden, in a village. But within cycling distance of the city, which was a condition of mine to live in a village
.
Personal 'deco-motto':
From my education I am aware of all the interior design rules but I actually always work from my feelings. After all, a house you feel comfortable in is what it's all about.
For me, a calm neutral base works best. This is where I can add color to my heart's content through accessories.
My favorite that fits into any interior are still the Ikea Ivar cabinets that you can hang on the wall. By hanging several side by side you create a sideboard that is great for styling. Paint them in the color of the wall for tranquility. Or give them a bright color as an eye-catcher.
My dream interior is a combination of vintage and design. Quiet but colorful at the same time.
I love grayish colors of pink and green combined with vibrant orange and blue.
Wood and pottery
My dream home is a refurbished 1930s house with cast floor. Furnished with vintage and design.
Now that the children are older, it is my desire to move back to the city. So this keeps me from tackling major renovations in our current home. If we were to continue living here, the first thing to do would be the bathroom, as it is still completely 80s style now 😉
I don't specifically have an interior designer/stylist as an example. But when I look at Instagram, for example, I love the interiors designed by @Huisgeluk and @Hundredninety.
I love trends in interior design, but then I love to change. Although I don't hop along to every trend myself. The basics stay pretty much the same to which I like to add innovations.
I think the trend of more tranquility in interiors will continue for a while. The more hectic life gets, the more we need peace and quiet in the home. But of course that doesn't mean it has to be colorless. A colorful home, applied in the right way, can be just as calming.
