Responding to interior design trends with timeless furniture
October 16, 2023
A neutral base, clean design, quality design and a nice accent color here and there. Timeless does not have to be boring or clinical at all. The sustainable furniture brand Design in Box launches a few new items and shows how a timeless interior can move perfectly with the trends of today.

NEW! Design in Box on sale from mid-June at LOODS 5.
Every year we are bombarded with new interior design trends. Think: terrazzo, colored tiles and wooden wall panels but also living styles like Japandi or maximalism (striking prints & poppy colors) are totally "in". And while some trends last a long time - the industrial or country look, for example - most are fleeting. Unfortunately, 'fast furniture' also has a downside. For example, the furniture industry is responsible for as much as 11 million tons of waste per year. As a sustainable furniture brand, Design in Box deliberately creates only timeless items. But even with these designs you can respond smartly to trends. So you are assured of a trendy interior that never goes out of fashion!
Design in Box adds 5 new, timeless items to its range:
- Hybrid chair: https://www.designinbox.nl/hybrid-chair
-Stools series no.71:

-Barstool no.14: https://www.designinbox.nl/bar-no-14/
- Desk no.365: https://www.designinbox.nl/desk-no-356/
Like all Design in Box furniture, you can customize these newcomers (with a wide range of colors, fabrics and materials) or style them in line with any style or trend. If you get tired of the color of your chair after a while, you can have it reupholstered at Design in Box! Moreover, every part of these smart designs is replaceable. So you never have to throw away the whole piece of furniture, just order a new leg or frame when it breaks down.
Oneof the main trends spotted at Milan Design Week as recently as April is "Lightness": a serene and minimalist interior that looks almost fluid. Simplicity and understated elegance are key here. The use of bright white tones, transparent materials and reflection creates an open atmosphere and a refreshingly luxurious look. Ton sur ton tones and pale naturals have long been a hit in the interior world, but the tactility of fabrics and furniture now reach the highest possible caressability factor: STREEL soft, and that's putting it mildly.
Clad in light-colored fabrics such as 'Alpine Ivory'(see furniture mood image and packshots above!), 'Society Cream' and 'Brema Liver', Design in Box's new timeless collection perfectly matches the Lightness trend.
Sustainabilityis becoming increasingly important in our lives, and also in our interiors. Circular furniture, recycled fabrics and bio-based materials: 'sustainable living' is becoming the norm. The trend is expressed not only in a conscious choice of ecologically responsible furniture but also in the design itself. Inspired by landscapes, for example, we see a lot of organic shapes and layering reminiscent of rocks, boulders and jagged stones. Natural materials such as wood, natural stone, wicker and artisanal wickerwork play the leading role. In addition, soothing, earthy colors such as ochre yellow, terracotta, light orange and shades of brown reflect nature.
Wood table tops and Design in Box furniture fabrics in colors such as "Brema Terra," "Earth Copper" and "Soil Ocre" are ideal if you want to incorporate the "Ode to Nature" style into your home.
